In depth: buying for the buyer
The traditional way of buying property – dealing with a real estate agent who acts solely for the vendor – is not the only way of securing the home of your dreams. Elsewhere around the world, such as in Australia, the United Kingdom and United States, buyers’ agents are established and part of the real estate industry – and their popularity is increasing. Jo Eccles, Director of London-based Sourcing Property, says: “The number of buying agents in London has dramatically increased, particularly within the last two years, as demand for the service has risen.”
Eccles’ business is not only restricted to British buyers. “We’ve worked with clients from across the world, and each nationality tends to have distinct preferences and needs. We tend to recommend them to native speaking contacts who will act in their best interest and who understand their culture and situation.”
